spiridons

Inhabitants of the planet Spiridon, a jungle planet with an ice core, which resulted in icecanoes near the surface. The vegetation was vaguely intelligent, and very deadly, spitting venom and fungus. The Spiridons had evolved into species which instinctively could refract light around themselves, rendering them invisible. This made it harder for the predatory flora to attack them. The Daleks then bombarded Spiridon with bacterial weapons, wiping out a majority of the Spiridons. Then, having built a base and refrigeration plant for an army of ten thousand Daleks, they subjugated the Spiridons. The Daleks forced the Spiridons to wear artificial purple fur coats so that they could be monitored, whilst exploring the use of light refraction to render themselves similarly invisible. The invisibility was not, however, a great success for the Daleks, as it resulted in lightwave sickness, killing the Dalek testers. The Daleks' plan to use more bacterial weaponry was halted when Wester, a Spiridon, released the bacteria in the airtight room where the Dalek scientists were creating it. This stopped any further progress as the other Daleks had yet to be immunised. After the Dalek base and caverns were swamped with molten ice, the Spiridons were freed from their slavery.
