space time vortex
A vast swirling multidimensional area that existed outside normal time and space, through which TARDISes, time rings and other Gallifreyan time devices could travel. Time Corridors and other, less sophisticated, methods also made use of the Vortex. A race of creatures, the Chronovores, such as Kronos, existed within the Vortex, while time sensitives such as the Tharils could certainly use some of its properties. Salamander was sucked out of the TARDIS and into the Vortex. The TARDIS doors opened fractionally while passing through the Vortex. As a consequence the TARDIS and its crew were reduced in size.
