shadow dimensions
A series of dimensions outside normal time and space. It was here that the Doctor trapped Fenric, in the third century, after foiling him with an insoluble game of chess. Fenric's actual life essence was sealed within a flask and left on Earth. As a result, Fenric travelled through the Shadow Dimensions, awaiting his chance to become whole again and get his revenge on the Doctor. He succeeded in 1943, when the flask was opened and he inhabited one of his specially prepared genetic-code carriers, Judson.
