A savage tribe who believed that their God, Xoanon, was kept captive at the Place of Land by their ancient enemies, the Tesh. They further believed that the Place of Land was guarded by a phantom called The Evil One. In fact the Sevateem were the descendants of a Mordee survey team which had crash landed generations previously. The technicians had been left at the crash site repairing their computer, Xoanon. The Evil One was the image of the Doctor, who had tried to reprogram Xoanon but had turned it schizophrenic. Amongst the Sevateem was a warrior girl called Leela, who joined the Doctor in his travels.
