The Scientific Reform Society, a group of fanatical scientists determined to rule the world on their own terms. Led by Hilda Winters, they intended to hold the world ransom through the threat of unleashing a nuclear war. When those threats were not taken seriously, Miss Winters calmly set the countdown off, claiming that the SRS would emerge from their bunkers, at the government-sponsored Think Tank establishment, and rule the survivors of the world. UNIT broke the SRS up by arresting all of its members, one of whom was Professor Kettlewell, creator of the experimental robot, K1.
