Savage and stupid inhabitants of the planet Eden. The Mandrels could be herded together using high-pitched sonics beyond that of the human range of hearing. When killed and molecularly broken down, the Mandrels produced pure Vraxoin, a highly sought after narcotic. A portion of Eden, heavily populated by Mandrels, had been encrypted onto crystals within the CET machine by Professor Tryst. Tryst was financing his zoological expeditions by smuggling Vraxoin. The Doctor trapped him within the CET machine and handed him over to the authorities on Azure, planning to return the Mandrels to Eden, and all the other samples to their respective planets.
