magnus greel

A fanatical warlord from the fifty-first century who sought immortality. He conducted many experiments with a zygma beam, trying to travel through time. Responsible for millions of deaths, he was hated and feared throughout the world. One of his greatest successes was the Peking Homunculus, a cybernetic dwarf, built to look like a toy but with the cerebral cortex of a pig wired into its positronic brain. It slaughtered the children of the Icelandic Commissioner and so began World War 6. Greel and the homunculus fled back through time, but the zygma experiments were a failure and Greel's body was badly distorted. He needed to absorb the life essences of young people to keep himself alive, and lost his time cabinet as well. Eventually he traced it to nineteenth century London where he posed as the ancient Chinese God Weng-Chiang, in order to manipulate the local tongs into helping him. He gave some powers to Li-H'sen Chang, enabling him and the Homunculus, now called Mr Sin, to stage a magic act. Chang would hypnotise his victims. Later they would go to Greel to be destroyed so he could steal their life essences. Reunited with his cabinet, Greel attempted to use it to escape, but the zygma beam failed totally, distorting his body until it was nothing but dust.
