Inhabitants of the planet Kastria. The planet was hazardous to life and so the Kastrian scientist Eldrad devised new, silicon-based lifeforms for his people. He also created a regenerator to repair or replace them if the bodies became damaged. Eldrad also built the barriers that protected the planet and asked to be King in return. The Kastrians refused, so he destroyed the barriers, driving the civilisation underground. Eldrad was sentenced to obliteration. However, fearing that he may survive and wreak havoc in their name, the Kastrians suicidally walked out onto the planet's surface en masse, leaving Eldrad to return as king of a dead world.
