Leader of the colony on Terra Alpha. Helen A was determined that hers would be the happiest, jolliest colony of all. She employed the Happiness Patrol to ensure anyone looking sad was executed and utilised the robotic Kandyman to maintain population control. The Doctor tried to reason with her that there had to be a balance but she was unmoved. Eventually, the Doctor incited the colonists to rise up and Helen A was forced to flee, still determined to be cheerful until her pet, Fifi, was found dead. Helen A finally understood how important sadness was to human life.
