first trial of the doctor
After defeating the Aliens and their War Games, the Doctor was forced to contact his people for help in sending the kidnapped human soldiers home. Despite his efforts to escape, the Time Lords captured the Doctor and placed him on trial for breaking their prime directive - non-interference with other races. The Doctor put up a spirited defence and was exiled to Earth for a period, although a second regeneration was forced upon him. The Time Lords occasionally used the Doctor as their galactic agent on planets such as Peladon, Solos, Skaro and Karn. The sentence was revoked after the Omega Crisis.
