Malicious, plotting Italian count, who sought to overthrow his nephew and assume control of San Martino after the old Duke, Federico's brother, died in mysterious circumstances. The court astrologer, Hieronymous, had previously aided Federico in his endeavours, but was also the leader of the Cult of Demnos. When the Mandragora Helix came to Earth, it used Hieronymous as its medium, bestowing lethal powers upon him. When Federico learned of Hieronymous' betrayal, he sought to stop him, but was slain by the astrologer's new powers.
