Charged Vacuum Emboitements, similar to black holes, through which entry could be gained into pocket universes and dimensions. The CVEs were created by the Logopolitans, through which they bled universal Entropy, to keep the universe alive. The CVEs were kept open by the pure mathematics beamed into them as block transfer computations from Logopolis. When the Master killed some Logopolitans, the mathematics were disrupted, the CVEs began closing and the entropy encroached. By the time the Doctor was able to reopen the CVEs by sending the necessary mathematics from Earth, Logopolis had been consumed by the entropy.
