Inhabitants of the planet Aridius, a desert planet which had once been a beautiful world of deep oceans. A change of orbit had taken the planet closer to its twin suns, evaporating the oceans and sending the Aridians beneath the sandy surface. There, they were forced to conserve as much water as possible, and avoid the attacks from the Mire Beasts. The Daleks came to Aridius in search of the Doctor and the TARDIS and forced their leader, Prondyn, to hand the Doctor over. Malsan and Rynian, two other Aridians attempted to help the Doctor escape, although Malsan was killed by a Mire Beast. After tricking the Daleks on the surface, the TARDIS crew made a safe escape, and the Daleks immediately left Aridius to follow them.
