A former actor who was forced into being a highwayman when the plague that threatened England in the seventeenth century closed all the theatres. He joined forces with the Doctor when they discovered that the plague was being exacerbated by a group of Terileptil criminals trapped on Earth. Overcoming his instinctive cowardice, he helped the Doctor destroy the Terileptils but remained in London to help the locals when the exploding Terileptil machinery started the Great Fire of London.
