regeneration of the 1st doctor
The earliest Doctor was a fussy, elderly looking man with Edwardian clothing and a cynical, almost abrasive air about him. He relied heavily on his travelling companions to do any physical work while his sharp, inquisitive mind thought through their problems. He claimed to have been an exile from his home planet and had no intention of returning. After encountering and defeating the Cybermen on Earth in 1986, the exertion tired the Doctor out and he collapsed. Before his bemused companions Ben Jackson and Polly, he used the TARDIS controls to help him effect a complete physical metamorphosis, changing into an apparently much younger man.
