Constructed from millions of memories, experiences and thoughts of Time Lords past and present, the Matrix is a massive storehouse of information on Gallifrey. It can predict the future, explain the past and offer a variety of alternatives, for instance foreseeing a future where the Daleks become the dominant lifeform of the Universe. It constitutes a sizable segment of the Amplified Panotropic Computer Network. Within the Matrix, dreamscapes can be created, into which (via the APC Net) mental projections of the user can be introduced. Via the Seventh Door, an actual Time Lord can enter the Matrix, and genuinely be physically involved with (or killed by) what occurs. The Matrix can be the single most powerful dimension to be in, simply because the electronically created environment can be shaped, altered, replaced or erased with the power of thought. The Matrix was used by the Master to give the Doctor a premonition of the President's assassination, and to hide in during the Doctor's Second Trial. The Doctor, Goth, Omega and the Andromedans had all gained access to it, as did the Valeyard, who used it to create false images of the Doctor sabotaging the Hyperion III as well as the death of Peri.
