An area of outer Gallifrey transformed by Rassilon into a vast games arena. Using a Time Scoop, he and other early Time Lords were able to bring aggressive species together and have them fight. Realising this was an abuse of their power, Rassilon closed the Death Zone down, although many of its time scooped inhabitants were trapped there. At the centre of the arena stands the Dark Tower, containing the Tomb of Rassilon. Whether Rassilon is truly dead, however, has always remained debatable. At least four Time Lords, including Borusa, have entered the Dark Tower, seeking immortality, but none have ever returned.
