The Continuous Event Transmuter was a device similar in concept to a Miniscope. However the CET actually transformed portions of a planet molecularly into electromagnetic signals stored in tiny crystals, leaving bare patches on the original planets. The CET Machine was invented by Professors Tryst and Stein. Tryst, together with his partner, Dymond, were actually using the machine to smuggle the illegal narcotic Vraxoin. As Dymond's ship and the passenger liner Tryst was aboard came out of hyperspace, they collided, creating unstable matter interfaces between the ships. This caused the CET machine to break down, enabling the lifeforms contained within the crystals to re-enter the real world and roam about.
