A sprightly Edwardian vintage car, painted a shocking yellow. The Brigadier gave Bessie to the Doctor as an enticement to help UNIT, after a roadster that the Doctor had originally stolen was to be returned to its owner. Its number plate was WHO1 and the Doctor spent a great deal of time tinkering with the vehicle, increasing its speed capabilities, as well as fitting inertia dampening fields to ensure safe braking. The car was also fitted with magnetic anti-theft devices which trapped anyone attempting to steal it, and a remote control device which meant the Doctor could drive it without actually sitting in it. Through this, he was able to capture the Master after his unsuccessful attempt to usurp the power of the Daemon Azal. Bessie was transported to Omega's world by the Gell Guards and was attacked by a giant insect that emerged from the cocoon of one of the Giant Maggots. The maggots themselves had emerged from the chemical slime produced by Global Chemicals. It was kept by UNIT even after the Brigadier's retirement and was later brought back into service for the Doctor to use when Morgaine attacked Earth. It now had a new registration number, WHO7.
