A Time Lord who fled Gallifrey to live as the master of Jaconda. When Mestor and the Gastropods invaded Jaconda, Azmael posed as the human Professor Edgeworth to gain the trust of the Sylvest twins. The twins were mathematical geniuses whom Mestor needed to calculate the best way to spread his eggs throughout the galaxy. When the Doctor arrived on Jaconda, he was saved by Azmael who entered into a mental battle with Mestor. They were both killed when Azmael attempted a thirteenth regeneration, which destroyed both their minds. Azmael lived long enough to remember his happier old days with the Doctor.
