Travelling to Logopolis, the Master destroyed the civilisation by interrupting their mathematical equations. However, this meant that the Block Transfer Computations that held the CVEs open, now failed. As entropy began to creep across the cosmos, the Master returned to Earth and beamed a message out to the peoples of the Universe. He stated that if they refused to recognise him as their Master, he would not enter the Logopolitan computations that would reopen the CVEs. The Doctor, however, managed to transmit the mathematics, opening the CVEs and thus stopping the entropy, but at the cost of his fourth life.
