alien ambassadors
Inhabitants of a distant planet who travelled to the Milky Way to make peace with mankind. They were encountered on Mars by the crew of Mars Probe 6, but the aliens lived off radiation, which killed one of the crew. A further ship, Mars Probe 7, was sent, but contact was lost. A recovery probe was also dispatched. Three ambassadors were later duped into coming to Earth, being used as terror weapons to convince the Government that all aliens were evil. The Doctor exposed this plan and entered peaceful negotiations with the ambassadors on behalf of Earth, arranging for the safe return of the two Mars Probe 7 astronauts and the Recovery 7 astronaut, whose identities the ambassadors had assumed on Earth.
