From June 1997, BBC Books started a range of new Doctor Who novels. These books, released two per month (except December), and more recently one per month, mirrored the Virgin Publishing style of the previous six years - one book for the current (Eighth) Doctor, and the other book for a past incarnation of the Doctor.
